Description

From the 1860s to 1880s Union Pacific had a variety of flatcar styles. One group of four-stake flatcars stands out as it was painted a light color with black reporting marks but all other lettering in white! Many were converted to gondolas for coal service by adding low sides. Traced from dozens of historic photographs; letters four complete cars.

The prototype cars were lettered with all kinds of number styles, both block and roman, and both styles are included plus extras of certain numbers that were painted by hand and don’t follow any stencil pattern. Also includes “SHOP” chalk marks for cars needing repairs.
