An early alternative to the arch bar truck, the Ajax Pedestal Truck was designed for freight car use and embraced by a few midwestern railroads after the turn of the century, most notably the Illinois Central and the Wabash. These trucks come with or without simulated body-hung brake beams (see photos).

One version has the brake shoes attached to the model, the other does not. For those particular model, version A has them, if you look closely at the photo you will see them on the outside of the wheels.
