Union Pacific 1887 Standard Refrigerator Car Decal Set HO
Union Pacific 1887 Standard Refrigerator Car Decal Set HO
Traced from the 1887 Union Pacific paint standards book and photographs, this is the standard paint scheme for refrigerator cars on the UP system. Letters one car.
A few options are included:
-The "Pocatello Transfer" marking is shown in the historic paint diagram; this was applied to cars designed to swap trucks on the Ramsay Transfer devices in Salt Lake City and Pocatello so that they could travel on the narrow gauge portions of the UP system. There was no limitation to where these cars could travel, but can be left off to represent cars not specifically assigned to service out of Ogden UT.
-"M.C.B. Coupler" marks (in the bottom corners of the car sides) were only applied after the cars were upgraded with knuckle couplers in the early 1890s. If you prefer an 1880s appearance, leave these off.
-Two different reweigh marks are included, one for Salt Lake City and one for Omaha, only pick one of the two.
There aren't any existing kits that match the prototypes, but the sizing would fit on the Bitter Creek tiffany reefer since the body is the same length.
