Rough and Ready, 2-2-0 Steam Locomotive, HO Scale
Rough and Ready, 2-2-0 Steam Locomotive, HO Scale
This is a model of the Cheshire Railroad's No. 1, Rough and Ready. This locomotive was built in the 1830s by the Locks and Canals Co. and this model represents it as it appeared after an 1863 rebuild. It is a perfect example of an early locomotive which was repurposed for switching duties later in its working life, and would suit a layout set in the 1850s, 1860s, or 1870s (Rough and Ready itself lasted into the 1880s, albeit in a highly modified form). The model is scaled from a well known photograph of the prototype.
This model is not meant to be powered, but can be used with a powered-tender kit that will be available soon.
Wheels will be needed to complete the model. The leading wheels are 36 inch spoked wheels with flush axle ends, available from Precision Scale Models. The driving wheels are available from American Scale models (listed on their site as listed on their website as 1033-28 - HO Scale - Steam Loco, trailing truck wheels, 54" spoked).
Various other details may be added (whistle, bell, are not part of the print).
