A wood Cabin Car produced by The LIRR and later ACF. The series represented here is for car numbers 39-48, which make up the second batch of the cars constructed for the route. There is much speculation as to the difference between N-52 & N52a, I can only guess. Given though that the first series (34-38) were built with Plate end chassis sills, I believe therein lies the difference (I have examined a few of these cars in person)

Kadee HO Scale Arch Bar Self Centering Caboose Trucks (With Leaf Springs, not Coils) are appropriate, appropriate trucks will eventually be made available. Paint can be sourced with Apple Barrel Red, which is a close approximate to Tuscan (It is worth noting that it is considered LIRR "Freight Car Color" and not Tuscan Red, of which I have a sample). I have found no evidence for a black painted chassis pre preservation era, so I would cautiously advise that the car Body & Chassis be painted red. Decals from Island Model Works Should be correct, though you will have to source the Build & Class Decals for yourself (these are to be applied to the bottom right corner of each side of the car). Handrails & End rails will need to be fabricated of Brass wire, in addition to sourcing a brake wheel.
