This is a kit of parts for converting the Mantua/Tyco "General" 4-4-0 model into a model of a c. 1850 Norris locomotive. The kit is intended to fit the chassis and running gear of the Mantua/Tyco locomotive. Due to design variations in the Mantua/Tyco chassis over its long production run, some parts of this kit may require additional filing to attain a perfect fit. This kit is therefore recommended for experienced modellers only. Included in the kit are the boiler shell, cab, and stack. The boiler and stack are hollow to allow for adding weights.
If issues with driving wheels rubbing the "splashers" occurs, fitting a shim under the cab floor should work as a solution.

This is nothing short of a gift for me. I’ve never liked the boiler casting on the “GENERAL”. Now I can do something about it. My conversion kit arrived in good order with minimal cleanup needed—not what I expected. My #11 blade pretty much cleaned most of it, but I’ll follow up with fine files. The running boards on mine are a little askew, but that could even up once mounted on the engine. It will require some additional bits to detail it out, but that’s okay. I’m very happy with my purchase.
I think the loco is just great. I send you an email about doing some custom work for me. I need cylinders for a PRR T1 but I did not receive a reply. Jim Trope
