This model represents the style of passenger car used on the Camden & Amboy Railroad during the 1850s and 1860s. Based on several photographs taken of such cars in the 1860s, and dimensions mentioned in an article from the 1880s. The center door was an unusual feature of the Camden & Amboy passenger equipment of the era, but by no means unique to the road.
The model includes a form to help bend wire hand rails for the end platforms, the form is also dimensioned so that its thickness can be used as a guide for making glazing for the windows. On these cars, only the vertical columns of small windows were glassed in, the larger openings had no glass, and were simply covered with a wood panel in bad weather or when not in use.
The trucks can be used with 28" scale wheels on standard NMRA pinpoint axles (approx. 26mm long).
