Central Pacific's first home-built boxcars, constructed in 1864, were lettered in a striking block style. Boxcars were only given even numbers, because odd numbers were reserved for flatcars! This decal set is designed for Bitter Creek Models' K-20 25' Boxcar kit (not included). Letters three complete cars.
After 1865, the railroad switched to roman lettering, but photographs show that the 1864 batch lasted into the 1870s mixed in with the roman-lettered cars. These could be seen all across California, Nevada and Utah into the late 1870s and may have ventured east into Wyoming or Nebraska on the Union Pacific system.
Note this product is the decal sheet only. Model not included.
