GBC-F005 Lovell's Locomotive Express Stone and Machinery Flatcars Decal Set - HO
Lovell's Locomotive Express was a heavy machinery moving company with a large fleet of flatcars designed for moving rail equipment, large non-rail machinery, and building stone. It is best-known as the company that moved Mason Machine Works narrow gauge locomotives, but it also is documented to have moved moved large stationary boilers, mining equipment, drive shafts for ocean-going ships, and large stone loads. This decal set letters three cars.
There is some debate as to the colors of the Lovell cars; no hard documentation has emerged to show how they were painted. Black and white photographs only indicate that the body is light and the lettering dark. Historians at the Nevada State Railroad Museum hypothesize that they may have been yellow with red lettering as that was common among fast freight companies, but white with black lettering was also common among fast freight car fleets, so it could be either way. Absent concrete proof, this decal set represents the cars with black lettering.
