Hydraulic Giants were used in placer mines to direct a high pressure jet of water towards a hillside to wash away gold trapped inside the gravel. They were also popular in construction projects that required the displacement of a large quantity of dirt, including the Panama Canal. The Joshua Hendy Iron Works of California manufactured Giants (also called Monitors) practically from their invention in the early 1850s until around the time of World War 2. This is based off a larger Hydraulic Giant that still survives at Malakoff Diggings State Park in North Bloomfield, California.
This kit prints in 2 separate pieces, allowing the nozzle to pivot horizontally. A wooden base, wood counterweight box and additional pipes are not included.
