Well, due in part to it being one of our more popular prototype offerings, we went about doing a facelift for our Porter Forney design. A better cab, modified boiler geometry to hopefully open up some mechanism options, and other detail upgrades more in-line with current LLW practice all got rolled into one neat package.
Like it's predecessor, this to take the DCC-equipped On30 Bachmann Porter’s core mechanism and use it for a small Forney. The mechanism needs to be stripped down to its bones for this to all fit together. However thanks to the technology improvements since this kit was originally designed, we've opened the boiler up into a full barrel which I hope will lead to more mechanism options for the builder. Maybe the chassis from a Bachmann Quarry Hunslet can be drafted to create a tiny outside-frame Forney. That's for you to sort out.

This is a much better kit offered over the previous cast resin kit. This 3D printed kit has sharper details, the cab walls are printed thin and close to scale, minimal striation lines and the parts appear to fit together nicely. Only reason I gave it a 4 star review is because the thinly printed cab wall front arrived warped. I don’t know if that is from the printed resin curing process or if it occurred during shipping/transit. I would order another if a need arose as this is a nice 3D printed kit.
