Mack 1921 AC Railbus
Mack 1921 AC Railbus
1921 Mack AC Railbus (N and TT scales)
Built by Mack Trucks, the AC model was a versatile railbus used for passenger service. The 1921-built Mack Model AC railbus featured a 64 horsepower, 4-cylinder gasoline engine and had a seating capacity of 35 passengers. Mack Trucks was a pioneer in the railbus industry, producing various models that served both rural and urban areas. Their railbuses were known for their efficiency and versatility, with bodies often built by companies like the J.G. Brill Company
The kit includes 3D printed resin body and roof. The builder will need to supply the power chassis, front four-wheel truck (for Nn3, suggest using an MTL Z-scale Andrews truck - remove the coupler and coupler draft gear cover, leave the tongue in place and install facing rearwards), LED lamps, screws, clear glazing material, paint and decals. Care must be taken as some parts such as headlights, marker lights, and steps are fragile.
The original N-scale design was for powering by a 6.5mm gauge PowerMAX four-wheel power truck with one set of wheels removed, but with modification 6.5mm or 9mm gauge power trucks from Narrow Garage ( http://narrow-japan.net/ )or Showcase Miniatures ( https://www.showcaseminiatures.net/ ) can also be used. For TT narrow gauge, a variety of 9mm gauge powering options exist.
