Built by J. Hammond, 1893
The PCRy’s early roster of passenger cars were destroyed in an 1892 fire, except car 104, built by Kimball, which survived the fire. After that fire, new cars were ordered and some of the surviving cars were re-built. This model is based on drawings of these post-fire cars by Curt Johnson in the book The Pacific Coast Railway: Central California’s Premiere Narrow Gauge, Johnson & Westcott, Benchmark Publications.
This model includes 3D-printed body and floor. Modeler must supply Micro Trains Line 905 body-mount couplers, Micro Trains Line 004 02 400 passenger car trucks, 00-90 x 1/8” screws (4), Micro Trains N 49905911 (1089) Peacock Brake wheel, .012” brass wire for steps, platform railings and brake staff, and Berkshire Junction EZ Line (or generic “knitting-in elastic”) for truss rods. Recommend replacing MTL wheelsets with Fox Valley (Scale Trains) metal wheelsets.
