In the 1880s, Professor Sidney Short brought electric traction to the city of Denver. His electric streetcars ran in the city for only one year before being replaced by more reliable cable cars. The style of the car is however very typical of the horse and cable cars of the era and readily adapted for representing any number of American street railways of the 1880 or 1890s. The original Denver streetcars were built for a gauge of 3 feet, 6 inches. This model has been widened slightly to accommodate a "standard gauge" HO gauge mechanism and will operate on standard HO gauge track.

This model comes with separately printed conduit plows and a form for bending the handrails out of wire.

This particular model is intended to fit an ARU Model power truck (ARU Model C4025 ARU power 17A) with a 17mm wheelbase and 9.5mm drive wheels. The bolster of the truck will need to be immobilized before installation into the car body, a single drop of superglue (cyanoacrylate glue) to the center pivot/screw will do this. Hint: these power trucks are available from online retailers like Plaza Japan for lower prices than can be found on ebay.
