The Truax Scoop Car was was popular in small, prospecting mines where only 1 or 2 cars were used. Because of their scoop shape and lack of a door they were simple to load. Their unique shape also meant they were used in industrial settings where wet materials like sand or cement needed to be moved.
This is a static model meant of use on 18" gauge track.
