Prototype notes:

The UBIII coastal torpedo attack boat of WW1 was an excellent design and formed the basis for the hugely successful Type VII of WW2. Displacing just over 500 tons, carrying 10 torpedoes launched via four forward and one rear tube, plus an 88mm deck gun, it became the most numerous type built during the war. Ninety-six were actually commissioned including seven after the 11 November Armistice of 1918. There were various design differences between models built by the four different constructors; this model is representative of a Blohm & Voss boat . The other constructors were AG Weser, Vulcan and Germaniawerft.
