Andrews side frames were used by the DM&IR and its predecessors to upgrade the aging arch-bar trucks under their ribbed ore car fleet (see our HO-7005 series trucks). They were more structurally sound than arch-bars and allowed the railroad to save money by retaining the transoms, journal boxes and brake rigging of the originals.
